Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Find Its IMEI Number

Previuosly I was wrote the article that is quite heavy in my opinion about how to root Samsung Galaxy SIII, this time I will write a short article about the IMEI.

What is IMEI?
For those of you who do not know about the IMEI, IMEI acronym for International Mobile Station Equipment Identity. IMEI is usually a series of numbers printed on the backside of your phone's battery.

So, why do we need to know our phone's IMEI? Yes, we need it because the IMEI number can be used to deactive the phone when it is lost or stolen. Of course this is a simple thing that you should know as a precaution when you experience unwanted situation on your Samsung Galaxy SIII.

How to get the IMEI number on the Samsung Galaxy S3?
You can follow the easy steps below to get to know your phone's IMEI, as written on ilaks.com:
  1. Tap Phone icon on your Home screen. Or you can go to Apps through Home screen then tap on Phone.
  2. Tap on Keypad tab.
  3. Enter *#06# then press the call icon.
  4. Your IMEI number will be displayed on your phone screen.

Very easy, right? When the phone has been blocked, then IMEI would be "blacklisted". Hopefully these simple tips can be useful for you. So, let me know your feedback through the comments below :)

    1. Hi There,
I'm so sorry to hear that. Here may the things you can do:
      1. Go to the police to file a report for a stolen phone. They will track your phone using your IMEI. Usually the phone stolen will be sold on the flea market. When anyone turn it on the police will know the location of your phone and get it back for you.
      2. Contact your provider and ask them to disable your SIM card, or your network and give them your IMEI to block your phone. So, when the thief insert any SIM card inside it, it will not register on any network on your country.
      3. If previously you had to register at Samsung.com, you can try to login to SamsungDive.com then you can lock, restore and located your device from here.
      4. If you want, you can try third-party app to track your phone, such as Lookout, SeekDroid or Cerberus. Some users reported these apps can help solve their problems. But, these tracks app is reported to be useless when the phone has been factory reset.

Hope this short answer will help you.

IMEI is usually be blacklisted because of the reports that the phone is lost or stolen. And have you contacted the carrier where you buy this phone?

Seems you have a similar problem with Omar Arafah who also leave his comment here. Your IMEI may be blacklisted with any reason you don't know. Try to contact your seller and ask them to give you some explanation associated with the IMEI. If it possible, try to return it and get the new one which is has no problem with the IMEI.
      Hope this helps :)

To know it's fake or not, you can call Samsung and give them the serial to check. Galaxy SIII design are from Samsung Korea, but this device may produced and assembled in another country. In my opinion, wherever it made in and assembled, it should has the same quality control. Some peoples said that Vietnam is the best due to Galaxy S3 made in Vietnam is at least in return.
      Hope this helps :)

      Thanks for coming.
If Samsung said that your phone was original, then try to trust them. Now, go back to www.imei.info, once you check the IMEI it will show the Information and phone's picture. Below the picture you will see three button, click to THIS IS INCORRECT! button. Fill your phone model then click Send button to report error then give them a time to check.
      Hope this helps :)

What's your carrier? The Phone app is the stock app that should be available in any smartphone that used to make a calls. However, if you don't have this app for any reason, you can also find the IMEI number in the box of your Galaxy S3, you can find your 15-digit IMEI numbers from there. Or, you can also find the IMEI number in the backside of your phone's battery.
      Hope this helps :)

Did this error also happen when you dial another code? However, try to restart the phone then re-dial that code and see whether it helps. Another way, you can also find the IMEI number by going to Settings> tap More tab> tap About device> tap Status> here you should see your IMEI number.

In certain country, change the phone's IMEI is illegal. So, better if you try to call back the one whom you purchased his S3 and if possible you can ask to cancel your purchase.

Someone in androidcentral forum has started a thread to discuss about a fake Samsung Galaxy S3. He noticed that there's a little differences between the original and the fake. In the Apps menu of the original Galaxy S3, there's an app named "Samsung apps" while in the fake Galaxy S3 it only says "Apps".
Other way, you can also try to check your phone IMEI in the http://www.imei.info/

    1. Hi Karen Krista Tosim,

I can't say that it's fake, but the original phone should have the same IMEI numbers on the back of the phone, on the box and on the phone itself(when you dial *#06#). If possible, return the phone and ask for cancelling the purchase.

Aside from seeing the 15-digits IMEI number in the settings menu or by dialing *#06# via Phone app, you can also see the IMEI number on the backside of your phone battery, or on your phone box (it's usually printed in a label that is used to seal the box).

  22. hello,

My samsung s3 got stolen and it is only now that I have become aware of code such as IMEI. The police would not let me lodge a complaint as I do not have the unique id. Can it be found anywhere on the box in which the handset was?

    Thanks

    1. Hi MariSudha James,
      Thanks for coming.
I'm sorry to hear that your phone has been stolen.
Well, back to your case. Aside from finding the IMEI number in your phone, you can also find the IMEI number in these two locations:
      1. Look at the box
The IMEI number is usually printed in a label that is placed over the opening since it usually act as a seal. The IMEI number is typically a 15-digit unique number.

      2. Look at the Google account dashboard
Use the following steps to do so:
      - Open Browser app in your PC and then access www.google.com/settings/dasboard
      - Enter your Google account(username and password) associated with your stolen phone and then click Login button.
      - Click Android section to see your device information(including with the IMEI number).

  23. can it be possible to find my missing samsung gti9300 device after factory reset?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Aysha Seddeka,
      Thanks for coming.
Since performing factory reset will delete all accounts from your phone (including with Samsung and Google accounts) then it'll be impossible to find your phone using SamsungDive or Android Device Manager. Thus, submitting report to the police is the only option you can try to find your lost phone.

IMEI is a 15-digits numbers listed in your phone's box. You can open imei.info in your browser and then enter that IMEI number to check it and view your phone's information.
