Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Delete Messages in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

In some cases, you probably need to delete some of messages in your Messaging app, for instance when there are to many old or unimportant messages and you have to delete some of them to clean up the app, or when your internal storage starts having low space and you have to delete some of messages to free up some space. Deleting messages will be more important to be done especially if you're the one who like to send messages with others almost every time. Luckily, you can delete the messages in the Messaging app with ease, either delete the messages manually or automatically.

How to delete text or multimedia messages manually?
You can either delete conversations or individual messages within a conversation manually by using the following steps:
  1. Open Messaging app.
  2. Deleting conversations:
    • Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Delete.
    • Select the required conversations you want to delete.
    • Tap Done button.
    • Tap OK button.
    • The selected conversations will be deleted.
  3. Deleting individual messages within a conversation:
    • Tap the required conversation.
    • Tap and then select the required messages within the conversation you want to delete.
    • Tap Delete.
    • Tap OK button.
    • The selected individual messages will be deleted.

How to delete text or multimedia messages automatically?
You can set the phone to automatically delete old individual messages within a conversation when the specified limit is reached by using the following steps:
  1. Open Messaging app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Delete old messages.
  4. If Delete old messages is off, tap the ON/OFF switch to enable it.
  5. Tap Text message limit to adjust the limit to the desired one and then tap OK button. FYI, when the numbers of individual text messages within a conversation reach the limit, then the old text messages within that conversation will be deleted automatically.
  6. Tap Multimedia message limit to adjust the limit to the desired one and then tap OK button. FYI, when the numbers of individual multimedia messages within a conversation reach the limit, then the old multimedia messages within that conversation will be deleted automatically.

If for any reason you have to delete some of your messages but you don't want to lost them, then it'd better if you backup your messages periodically using Kies or other backup apps so that you won't lost any message even though they have been deleted by you or the phone.
