Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: How to Setup Apps Edge Feature in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

If we see the function, the apps edge feature in Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has similar function with the toolbox feature that can be found in its predecessor, Samsung Galaxy S5. Both these features let you quickly access your favourite apps regardless the screen or app you're opening. The difference is the toolbox feature uses a toolbox icon to let you access the apps, while the apps edge feature uses the edge screen.


How to enable the apps edge feature?
You can do so by using two different methods: from the settings menu and from the edge screen settings.


Method #1: From the settings menu
You can enable the apps edge feature via the settings menu by using the following steps:
  1. When the screen is unlocked, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to the Device section and then tap Edge screen.
  3. Tap Apps edge.
  4. Slide the ON/OFF switch to the right to enable it. The switch turns green when the apps edge is enabled.


Method #2: From the edge screen settings
If the people edge feature is enabled, you can enable the apps edge feature via the edge screen settings by using the following steps:
  1. To open the edge screen, drag the edge screen handle towards the centre the screen. By default, the handle is displayed in all screens and located on the right edge screen.
  2. Tap to go to the edge screen menu.
  3. Tap Apps edge.
  4. Slide the ON/OFF switch to the right to enable it. The switch turns green when the apps edge is enabled.


How to add apps to the apps edge feature?
When you have enabled the apps edge feature, you can add up to 5 apps for easier access by using two different methods: from the settings menu and from the edge screen.


Method #1: From the settings menu
You can add apps to the apps edge feature via the settings menu by using the following steps:
  1. When the screen is unlocked, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to the Device section and then tap Edge screen.
  3. Tap Apps edge.
  4. Tap Add application.
  5. Select the required app you want to add to the apps edge.
  6. The selected app has been added to the apps edge.
  7. To add more apps, repeat from the step #4.


Method #2: From the edge screen
You can add apps to the apps edge feature via the edge screen by using the following steps:
  1. To open the edge screen, drag the edge screen handle towards the centre the screen.
  2. The edge screen will display people edge at the first place. Thus, you have to swipe across the screen again to access the apps edge.
  3. Tap .
  4. Select the required app you want to add to the apps edge.
  5. The selected app has been added to the apps edge.
  6. To add more apps, repeat from the step #3.
