Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Enable and Use Quick Tools Panel Feature in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

When the edge panels feature in your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is enabled and the main screen is turned on, you can use the quick tools panel so you can act the edge screen on your phone as a ruler to measure the length of an object, as a compass to find the geographic cardinal directions in your current location, and as a torch to improve your visibility while you're in a dark or low-light environment.

How to enable the quick tools panel feature?
Assuming that the edge panels feature is on, you can enable the quick tools panel by using the following steps:
  1. While the main screen is turned on, drag the edge screen handle towards the center of the screen to open the edge screen panel.
  2. Tap at the bottom left corner of the screen to quickly go to the edge panels menu.
FYI, if you access the edge panel from the lock screen and are using one of screen lock type with secure lock settings(PIN, password, fingerprints, pattern, or direction lock), you have to perform your current screen lock before you can access the edge panels menu.
  3. If needed, swipe the panels list to the left or right to find the Quick tools panel and then check the box above it to enable it.
  4. The quick tools panel has been enabled.

You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. While the main screen is turned on, drag the edge screen handle towards the center of the screen to open the edge panel.

To make this function works, make sure you have an Internet connection and the location feature is enabled. If it doesn't work normally, you may need to calibrate it before you use it by tapping Calibrate and then move your phone in a figure of 8 as shown in your phone's screen.
