How to add a new VPN profile?
Before connecting to a VPN, you have to add the VPN profile first in your phone. You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. While your phone is unlocked, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Tap Connections tab.
  3. Tap More networks.
  4. Tap VPN. As a note, if you turn off your lock screen or use swipe as your unlock method, you'll be asked to use another secure screen lock type, e.g: PIN, password or pattern. You just need to follow the on-screen instructions to complete the lock screen configuration.
  5. Tap at the top right to add a new VPN profile.
  6. Enter the desired name for your VPN profile in the Name field.
  7. By default, the VPN uses PPTP as the protocol type. You can change it if your VPN server uses another type.
  8. Enter the correct address of your VPN server (IP address or domain) in the Server address field.
  9. Tap Save button.
  10. The VPN profile has been added.


How to connect to a VPN?
Assuming that you have Internet connection(Wi-Fi or mobile data), you can connect to a VPN by using the following steps:
  1. Tap the required VPN profile.
  2. Enter your VPN username and password in the provided fields.
  3. If you don't want to enter the username and password each time you connect to this VPN profile, check the box in the left side of the "Save account information" option.
  4. Tap Connect button. If the username and password are entered correctly, you'll be connected to the selected VPN.
  5. Now, you can enjoy private browsing in your phone without you have to worry that there will be the one who know who or where you are.
  6. To disconnect your VPN, tap the VPN profile and then tap Disconnect button.

Samsung Galaxy S4: How to Update Device Software to Android 5.0 Lollipop

There are some ways available that can be done to update software in your Samsung Galaxy S4 to the latest Android version, Android 5.0 Lollipop, one of which is by updating software via over the air(OTA). First, you have to download the update into your phone.   3. If Nearby devices is off, tap the ON/OFF switch to turn it on. You'll see this icon is displayed on the status bar as a sign that the nearby devices feature is enabled.
  4. If needed, you can select which media files you want to share with by tapping Shared contents and then select Videos, Photos or Music and then tap OK button to save the changes.
  5. Now, other nearby devices that are connected to the same Wi-Fi network can access or download media files that you have chosen to be shared. As the example, if the nearby device is a Samsung Galaxy S phone then your shared photos can be accessed from the Gallery app in that device.

  3. All available nearby devices will be listed in the Nearby devices section.
  4. Tap the required device you want to play its music files.
  5. All shared music from the selected device will be displayed here.
  6. Tap the required song you want to play.
  7. While playing the music, you can use the controller at the bottom of the screen to control the music playback, e.g: play/pause/resume/rewind/forward the music, etc.

As a note, the stock Music Player app doesn't let you download shared music files from other nearby devices due to software limitation.

  5. All shared videos from the selected device will be displayed here. To download shared videos go to the step #6, while to watch shared videos only go to the step #7.
  6. To download shared videos from the selected device into your phone, do as follows:
    • Tap at the top right or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then tap Select.
    • Select the required videos you want to download.
    • Tap at the top of the screen to download the selected videos into your phone. By default, the downloaded files will be saved in the Download folder in the device storage and listed in the stock Video Player app.
  7. To only watch shared videos from the selected device without downloading, do as follows:
    • Tap the required video to play the video.
    • While watching the video, you can use the controllers at the bottom of the screen to control the video playback, e.g: play/pause/resume/rewind/forward the video, etc.

  4. Tap the required device that you want to access or download its photos. 
  5. All shared photos from the selected device will be displayed here. To download shared photos go to the step #6, while to view shared photos only go to the step #7.
  6. If you wish to download some shared photos from the selected device into your phone, do as follows:
    • Tap at the top right or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then tap Select.
    • Select the required photos you want to download.
    • Tap at the top of the screen to download the selected photos into your phone. By default, the downloaded files will be saved in the Download folder in the device storage, or you can see the downloaded photos in the Download album in the stock Gallery app.
  7. If you wish to only view shared photos from the selected device without downloading, do as follows:
    • Tap the required photo to view it in full screen.
    • Swipe the screen from the left to the right or vice versa to view other shared photos.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Automatically Turn On or Off Wi-Fi in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Instead of manually enable or disable Wi-Fi connection in your phone, you can set your phone to auto-connect to or auto-disconnect from Wi-Fi networks at the times you want. You can do so by setting the Wi-Fi timer so that your phone will automatically enable or disable Wi-Fi at the scheduled times.


How to set Wi-Fi timer?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Network connection section and then tap Wi-Fi .
  3. If Wi-Fi is off, tap the ON/OFF switch to turn it on.
  4. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Advanced.
  5. Tap Wi-Fi timer.
  6. Set a starting time:
    • Check the box next to Set start time.
    • Tap the Wi-Fi timer (hour and minute) to adjust the starting time when your phone has to enable Wi-Fi.
  7. Set an ending time:
    • Check the box next to Set end time.
    • Tap the Wi-Fi timer (hour and minute) to adjust the ending time when your phone has to disable Wi-Fi.
  8. Tap Done button.
  9. The Wi-Fi timer has been set and Wi-Fi in your phone will automatically turn on and off at the scheduled times. FYI, when the Wi-Fi has been turned off according to the Wi-Fi timer, you can still enable Wi-Fi manually if you wish to continue using your Wi-Fi connection to use Internet.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Delete Saved Wi-Fi Network Profiles in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

By default, if you have ever connected to a Wi-Fi network, either it's an open or secured network, then it'll be saved by the phone so that it'll automatically connect if the Wi-Fi network is available. But, if needed, you can set your phone to forget that saved Wi-Fi network profile, for instance when you want to clean up your list by removing Wi-Fi network profiles that are not in range, or when you encounter error while connecting to a secured Wi-Fi network and need to re-connect and re-enter the password.


How to forget a saved Wi-Fi network profile?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Network connections section and then tap Wi-Fi .
  3. If Wi-Fi is off, tap the ON/OFF switch to turn it on.
  4. Tap the required Wi-Fi network profile you want to forget and then tap Forget button.
  5. The selected Wi-Fi network profile has been forgotten.

Smart network switch is a smart feature available in Samsung Galaxy S5 that can be used when Wi-Fi and mobile data connection are activated. When this feature is enabled, it can help you maintain a stable Internet connection because this feature will set your phone automatically switches to a mobile network when your current Wi-Fi network connection is weak or unstable and switches back to Wi-Fi network connection when the Wi-Fi signal becomes strong. But, you have to remember that when you use this feature via mobile network, it may increase your mobile data usage and you may incur with additional charges.


How to use smart network switch feature?
Assuming that you have enabled your mobile data connection, then you can enable the smart network switch feature by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Network connections section and then tap Wi-Fi .
  3. If Wi-Fi is off, tap the ON/OFF switch to turn it on.
  4. If you have not connected yet to a Wi-Fi network, tap a Wi-Fi network profile and then tap Connect button. If the Wi-Fi network is secured network, enter the Wi-Fi network password first and then tap Connect button.
  5. Now, check the box next to Smart network switch to enable it. FYI, this option will be grayed out if your mobile data is off.
  6. Tap OK button to confirm.
  7. The smart network switch feature has been enabled and your phone will automatically switch between Wi-Fi and mobile network to maintain a stable Internet connection.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Keep Wi-Fi Stays On During Sleep in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

For some reason, you may need to keep connecting your phone to Wi-Fi network so that you can stay connected to the internet without having to be interrupted or disconnected each time the phone goes to sleep. If that so, you need to set the Wi-Fi sleep option to always connect to Wi-Fi network even when the screen is off.


How to keep Wi-Fi remains on during sleep?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Network connections section and then tap Wi-Fi .

  5. Tap Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep and then select Always.
  6. Now, unless you turn off the Wi-Fi connection manually, your phone will continue connecting to Wi-Fi network even when the screen is off.

As a note, install a third-party power saver app or battery saver app can disconnect the Wi-Fi connection automatically even when you have set your phone to always keep Wi-Fi on during sleep. Thus, uninstall the app should be able to fix this issue.

Wi-Fi is a wireless connectivity feature available in the Samsung Galaxy S5. This feature will let you to connect to another Wi-Fi enabled devices to connect to the internet or to share files/information. If available, most of users would probably prefer Wi-Fi than mobile data, moreover if the Wi-Fi network is an open network, because they can connect to the internet without having to be burdened with any additional charge. In some features, even you're suggested to use Wi-Fi network as the connectivity method, for instance when updating Android version, installing apps, updating apps, etc.


How to connect to a Wi-Fi network?
Generally, you can connect to a Wi-Fi network by using two methods available, either through the settings menu or the notification panel.


Method #1: From the settings menu
You can use this method if this the first time for you using Wi-Fi or if you want to connect to other network instead of the one you have previously connected to. Here's the steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notifications panel.
  2. Tap to go to the settings menu.
  3. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Network connections section and then tap Wi-Fi .
  4. Tap the ON/OFF switch to the right to enable it. The device will scan all available Wi-Fi networks automatically.
  5. Tap the required Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
  6. If the network is secured, you have to enter the network password(it's case sensitive, as the example: "R" is not the same with "r"). You can enable the Show password option to help you review and make sure that the password is correct.
  7. Tap Connect button.
  8. If the password was entered correctly, your phone will be connected to the selected Wi-Fi network and you'll see the Wi-Fi icon is displayed on the status bar.
  9. Now, you're ready to use Wi-Fi to connect to the internet or to share information with other devices that are connected in the same network with you.


Method #2: From the notification panel
You can use this method to quickly connect to the network you have previously connected to. Here's the steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi button. The button turns green when it's enabled.
  3. The device will be connected automatically to the network you have previously connected to and you'll see the Wi-Fi icon is displayed on the status bar.
  4. Now, you're ready to use Wi-Fi to connect to the internet or to share information with other devices that are connected in the same network with you.

As a note, the wrong password is a thing that most often causing the user unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network. Since the password is case sensitive, make sure to enter the password correctly so that you can connect to the network (please pay attention between uppercase and lowercase as well as 0 and o).
